Hello,
I am so excited to introduce myself to you! My name is Karen Reed, your new Macaroni Kid Franklin Publisher! If you are like me, I am always looking for new activity ideas and places to visit with my children that won't hurt my pocket book. By searching the web, scouring through newspapers, e-mail and word of mouth, I look for great deals and memory making adventures. Now I get to put that research to good use and can share the 411 with you on all things kid and family friendly here in the Macon, Clay, Cherokee and Graham county areas! My cup runneth over with enthusiasm!
Let me tell you a little about this woman of many hats. I am the oldest of 6 girls and 2 boys born and raised in Dillsboro, NC to a Christian family. I met my husband of 24 years in Kentucky and brought him back to the mountains. I tell people I went to Kentucky to meet and marry someone I am not related to. We have three of the most amazing children (sons age 23 & 7 and a daughter age 22) and an extra special first grandson almost a year old (our daughter’s baby), with grand #2 on the way in March 2019 (a little girl). The time is flying by fast so we try to capture every second to enjoy with them.
I love to spend time outdoors with my family whether it be taking a hike, visiting the park, or gardening. In my free time (moms have those occasionally) I love to crochet baby blankets, dishcloths and dishtowels; catch up on my pen pal letters and postcard swaps; plan family reunions; or take a moment to breathe and do nothing. I really must force myself do the last one as I am always on the go!
I look forward to seeing you around town and meeting Macaroni Kid families at great events in our community. I’ll be the one wearing a Macaroni Kid t-shirt so be sure to say hello when you see me.
